Sign in with Microsoft, Google or email

The three ways in, and what to do when you have no password yet.

start Last reviewed 2026-08-31 · About 4 minutes

BPA asks how you want to sign in before it asks who you are. The first screen is three buttons, not a login form. Which of them you see depends on what your organisation has turned on, so you may see fewer than three.

The first screen. Pick a method, and BPA asks for the rest.

Before you start

  • An invitation from your team admin, or an account someone has already made for you.
  • The address of your BPA workspace. Your admin will have sent it.

Which one to choose

  • Sign in with Microsoft
Your work Microsoft account, the same one behind Outlook and Teams. There is no separate password to remember, and any checks your organisation already applies to that account still apply here.
  • Sign in with Google
The same idea for a Google Workspace account.
  • Sign in with Email
Your email address and a password that belongs to BPA. Choose this if your organisation does not use Microsoft or Google, or if you were invited by email and have not signed in before.

If a button is missing, your organisation has not turned that method on. That is a setting your team admin controls, not something wrong with your account.

Steps

  1. Choose Sign in with Email.
  2. Type your email address and choose Next.
BPA uses your address to work out which methods your team allows, so this step is a lookup rather than a sign-in attempt.
The email step, with a single Email address field and a Next button
Your address decides what the next screen offers.
  3. Enter your password and choose Sign in.
Use Change if you typed the wrong address, or Other sign-in options to go back to the three buttons.

The password step. Email me a link instead is the way in when you have no password.

If you have never set a password

This is the usual situation for someone who has just been invited: you have an account, but no password has ever been set on it, so there is nothing to type into the password box.

Choose Email me a link instead. BPA emails you a link that signs you in and helps you set a password. The link lasts one hour, so use it while you are still at your desk. If it expires, come back and ask for another.

If you have forgotten your password

Email me a link instead covers this too, and it is the quickest route: the same link signs you in and lets you set a new password.

There is also a dedicated reset page, which asks for your address and emails you reset instructions.

The reset page. The sign-in screens do not link to it, so reach it at /password/forgot on your workspace address.

Two-step verification

If your team admin has turned on two-step verification for you, BPA asks for a six digit code as well as your password.

The first time, BPA shows a QR code. Scan it with an authenticator app on your phone, such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or Authy. After that, open the app whenever you sign in and read the current code. The codes change every thirty seconds, so if one is rejected, wait for the next.

What you should see

You land in the Work section, with your name in the top corner. If your account belongs to more than one team, BPA asks which one first.

If it does not work

  • I do not see the Microsoft or Google button.
Your organisation has not turned that method on. Use Sign in with Email.
  • It says email and password sign-in is disabled.
The opposite case: your organisation requires Microsoft or Google. Use one of those buttons instead.
  • My link has expired.
Emailed links last one hour. Go back to the sign-in screen and ask for another with Email me a link instead.
  • My password is not accepted and no link arrives.
Check the junk folder first. If there is nothing there, ask your team admin to confirm the address on your account, because a link can only go to the address BPA holds.
